I have a serious love for a sausage roll. Also, I'm not a sausage roll purist. I love it when they are mixed and matched with different flavours. This recipe is for a simple sausage roll and doesn't go too wild with flavours, but its always a crowd pleaser.
Makes 8 Large Sausage Rolls
Less than 5 Minutes Preparation
30 Minutes Cooking
I N G R E D I E N T S
1 Sheet Ready Rolled Puff Pastry
300g or a Pack of Sausage Meat (or your favourite sausages removed from the casing)
3tbs Red Onion Chutney
M E T H O D
Firstly, preheat the oven to 180c.
Next, carefully unroll the pastry. Then grab your sausage meat and make a large sausage shape alongside the long edge, leaving a 1cm gap from the edge.
Add the caramelised onion evenly over the top of the sausage meat.
Whisk the egg and brush along the 1cm edge.
Fold the pastry over the sausage meat and press gentle down the edge, to help the pastry stick together. Now use a fork to press the two pieced of pastry together to prevent the sausage rolls opening up when cooking.
Brush the rest of the sausage roll pastry with the egg wash and then slice into individual portions.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in the oven to 30 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
