Chinese Beef and Broccoli
I would never turn down an offer for a Chinese takeaway, however I do love cooking Chinese at home. I always feel great knowing I have saved money and made some tasty food that is healthy and fresh.

2/3 Servings
10 Minutes Preparation Time
10 Minutes Cooking Time
INGREDIENTS
1 Large Rump Steak
1 Head of Broccoli
2tbs Fresh Ginger
1tbs Garlic
1/4 Cup Oyster Sauce
1/4 Cup Water
1tsp Soy Sauce
1tsp Sugar
1tsp Sesame Oil
1tsp Cornstarch
(I also add other veggies such as carrot, peppers, courgette and cabbage)
METHOD
- Heat a wok or frying pan over a high heat
- Oil the steak and coat in pepper
- Cook the steak for 1 minute on each side in the wok, until you have a lovely brown colour, then remove and leave to rest
- Now, chop the broccoli into florets. Bring the wok down to a medium/low heat and add the broccoli with a little water to help steam and cook for 4 minutes
- Once the broccoli has started to cook, add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute
- Combine all of the wet ingredients with the sugar and cornstarch and whisk
- Chop your steak into thin strips
- Now add the steak back to the pan and add the sauce
- Let bubble away for a minute or so. The sauce will thicken and coat the beef and broccoli in a lovely glaze
- Mix the contents of the pan and then serve lovely and hot.
- ENJOY!
